Emotiva UPA-2

The Emotiva UPA-2 is a stand-alone and audiophile grade, two-channel power amplifier that supports output up to 125 watts RMS per channel at 8 ohms, and 185 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms. It uses the same compact and stackable 2RU chassis as the monoblock UPA-1, but it offers zone 2 application, a preamp in/out loop for daisy-chaining, a 12V DC trigger input, and individual level controls.

Missing however are balanced (XLR) inputs and a bridgeable mode, making it less optimal for serious users who might be interested in connecting the unit to a high-end preamp. However, the selling point is the price, because acquiring a comparable flagship unit would cost hundreds dollars more. And compared to the HK, the UPA-2 delivers improved imaging, better clarity, and crisper high-frequency output.
