ION TTUSB05XL
$100.00
Released October, 2008
The Pros:Included software does a reasonable job removing clicks and pops. Easy to use for transferring audio over to the computer.
The Cons:Plastic body and parts, feel a little flimsy. Some up/down motion during playback on the needle, platter isn't completely even. No way to adjust the anti-skate to play more worn records better.
The ION TTUSB05XL is a turntable built to create digital archives from LPs and other audio sources. This is a follow-up to the original ION TTUSB05, which had the same design and functionality. New to this model is a line output with a preamp, allowing easier play in home stereo systems.

A 1/8 inch stereo line input has also been added, allowing the MP3 creation functionality to be extended to any other audio device that can be connected to the turntable. While no driver is required to connect the plug-and-play USB connection, the EZ Vinyl Converter software is supplied to handle the actual conversion of audio into MP3 files. This software converts audio into a proper format and places it into iTunes automatically, and on Internet connected PCs can also add album, artist, and song information.
