Yamaha CD-S1000
$1,300.00
Released May, 2008
The Pros:Pulls the best possible quality audio from a regular CD. Can handle Super Audio CDs and output extraordinary detail and clarity. Great texture and image definition to the audio.
The Cons:Takes a lot of room on the shelf, not a very slim design at all.
The Yamaha CD-S1000 is an upscale super-audio CD player that plays both CDs and Super Audio CDs (SA-CDs). Built especially for SA-CDs, this device is capable of an advanced 2Hz-50kHz frequency—only with an SA-CD though; Regular CD frequency tops at 25kHz.

Plus, note also that both MP3 and WMA content is accepted by the CD-S1000. Additional features of the Yamaha CD-S1000 include differential D/A converters, specially designed feet for long-term placement, and an integrated control amp. Mind you, Yamaha urges customers to purchase the A-S1000 integrated amplifier, which is considered the perfect match for this CD player.
