Unfortunately, the player only handles conventional CDs and CD-R/Ws—MP3 and WMA playback is not supported. Some of the notable features include: 40-track programmable playback, RS-232C interface (for operating the unit via a PC), and a Disc Stabilizer that ensures smooth disc rotation. Note also the Yamaha CDC-697’s Intelligent Digital Servo System. This exclusive technology uses a microprocessor to try and overcome errors caused by disc defects, warpage, and dust.
